About Us
The members of Harold's Cross and District Credit Union have reason to be proud of the progress and development of the Union which has come from their support down throught the years. From small beginnings back in April 1968 in the Rosary Hall (Fr. Brownes) when 300 plus members joined one Saturday morning, to what we have now was gigantic and at that time an unimaginable achievement. At that time the books of account, ledger cards, cash and all to do with the operation of the credit union had to be brought back to Dermot O'Connor's house after each session, he being the Treasurer and his house the Registered Office in those days. Today our accounts have been computerized and we have purchased our own building in the main street of Harold's Cross, and we look forward to continued growth into the future. We the directors must thank the husbands, wives and families of those workers who have had their social life and indeed their family lives curtailed due to the commitment of these people down through the years and indeed into the future. Without the support and sacrifice of these relatives it would be impossible to run the credit union. |
